Robert Louis "Bobby" Longmire

Robert Louis "Bobby" Longmire was born on June 18, 1941 in Evergreen, Alabama. He went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2015.

Bobby was preceded in death by his stepfather and mother Wilbert and Lillian Lee (Lansing), father Robert Longmire (Alabama) and sister Helen DuVall.

He is survived by his soul mate Joy Walton; four children, Robert "BJ" Longmire and Byron Longmire (Tennessee), Wendy Longmire (Ypsilanti) and Tyler Norton (Grand Rapids); devoted sisters Jeanette Jackson and Linda Lee Tarver (Lansing); brothers Wilbert Lee, Tim Lee, and Ken Lee (Lansing), and Donald Lee (Alabama); A very special little girl, Jazlynn Douglas; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Robert was a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School, class of '59-60 where he played football and ran track. Bobby retired from Oldsmobile in 1992 after 30 years. He was a skilled pottery artist with an emphasis on his Native American ancestry ("Choctaw Tribe"). Bobby was a gifted carpenter and mechanic. He was a pioneer in many areas including professional drag racing and a Michigan Pro Archer.

A memorial service will be held at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 500 S Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Lansing, on Wednesday, July 15th at 1 pm. A celebration of his life will follow at his home.

I had forgotten how many things Bobby was involved in - I always enjoyed his funny sense of humor.  He will be missed by many.

Hello To All--

Today, July 15th I went to the Memorial Service for Bobby-was lovely to see the relatives and of course Joy--his joy for many many years-he was quite a man--also saw Terry Post .

May Bobby be in a better place-
