GIDDINGS, JOELLYN (RODGERS)

Age 53, died March 6, 1996. Joellyn was born September 22, 1942 in Lansing, where she grew up and graduated from Michigan State University in 1979 with a BA in Teaching and later received a Master’s Degree. She was a teacher for 15 years at Elliot Elementary and Horizon Elementary in Holt; she worked for many years as a Wardrobe Stagehand for the I.A.T.S.E. Local #274. Joellyn lived a full and active life. She loved to sail, ski and rollerblade. She was a member of the Jug and Mug Ski Club and she completed the 300 Mile Dalmac Bike Tour in September 1995. She bravely fought a long and difficult battle against cancer, aided by her dear friend Joe Tryon. Joellyn was preceded in death by her father, Donald G. Rodgers. Surviving are her 2 daughters, Sarah Giddings of Lansing and Melissa Giddings of Ann Arbor; 1 son Andrew K. Giddings of Mason; mother Gladys M. Rodgers of Lansing; 1 brother Charles G. (Jeanne) Rodgers of East Lansing; 1 sister, Carol A. (Bob) May of Austin, TX; niece , Lynn May; nephews, Greg May (Margaret and Michael), Mark (joyce) Whitman and Michael Whitman; and countless friends and relatives. We will all miss her dearly. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 9, 1 PM at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave. with Rev. Benton R. Heisler, Pastor of Asbury Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A celebration of her life will be held at the family home following internment.
