Jerry Don Pearson was born in Lansing, MI on May 12, 1942 and passed away on April 16, 2016 at age 73.   He graduated from Eastern High School, Class of 1960, and worked in the bookstore across from the school all three years.  He retired from Parts Associates, Inc. in 2004.  Jerry was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.  He was also awarded the Order of the Arrow and was on the Indian dance team.  In later years Jerry served as a counselor at many Boy Scout camps.  After high school Jerry joined the
U.S. Marine Corp. and was stationed in San Diego.  He worked at the Volunteers of America on Christmas mornings for many years and earned the honorary title of "mashed potato man".   He was active with several astronomy clubs, and spent many hours stargazing at local observatories.  Jerry was also a member of Michigan Duck Hunters and participated in installing wooden duck houses each year at the Maple River State Game Area.  He eagerly awaited the opening of duck season every fall.  He was an avid duck and goose hunter and hunted over North America and Canada.  He was also skilled in the art of duck calling and taught duck and goose calling classes.  In the summers, Jerry spent his time fishing and he most enjoyed walleye fishing on Lake Erie and pike fishing on Pretty Lake.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Jean Pearson; and one sister, Jan Fink of Leslie.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Norma L. (Campbell) Pearson; brothers-in-law, Gary (Jeanne) Fink of Leslie and Richard Campbell of Lansing; cousins, Delores (Harry) Cornell of Wolverine, MI and Lynn (Margie) Adams of Lansing. 

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Pine River Cemetery in Rolland Township, Blanchard, MI.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI.
