Hays, James H. Lansing

On December 12, 1996, after a strong and courageous fight with cancer, Jim left this life to join family and friends who had passed before him.  Jim was born March 22, 1942 in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI.  He was employed for 31 years by the General Motors Corporation where he spent several years in the Safety Department in Lansing before moving to Auburn Hills where he was a safety supervisor on the Health and Safety Audit Team.  He was preceded in death by his father Dolphus Hays.  Surviving are his wife of 34 years Carolyn; his mother, Edna Martin; 1 brother, Bill  Hays; nephew Arthur Hays; 2 daughters, Lorie (Rob) DeBar, Sandra Van Wormer; 5 grandchildren; and numerous very special family and friends.  A warm and loving “thank you” to all of you who gave Jim and his family so much joy and comfort with your thoughtful cards and prayers.  He found great pleasure in them all.  A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Esker Laughlin and Rev. Danny P. Stoneham at 1 PM at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-6 PM Saturday.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jim may be made to the Breslin Cancer Center or the Hospice of Lansing Inc.
